Pentagram may probably be one of the most influential and well renowned design studios in the world. It is the world’s largest independent design consultancy and have offices in London, New York, Berlin and Austin. Designing everything: architecture, interiors, products, identities, publications, posters, books, exhibitions, websites, and digital installations.
Pentagram have developed identities for Citibank, United Airlines, and The Co-operative brand in the UK, winning a silver award from the Design Business Association. In 2007, they updated the visual identity of Saks Fifth Avenue.
The firm currently comprises 16 partner-designers in 4 cities, each managing a team of designers and sharing in common overhead and staff resources. The partners in each office share incomes equally and all the partners own an equal portion of the total firm. Paula Scher have been until now the only female designer among the sixteen of partners. Being one of the first practicing design researchers in Germany, Prof. Gesche Joost never quite fit a predefined role in industry or academia.
